In April I was honored to be invited to speak at the Mother's Of Multiples Conference in Fargo, ND. There I met lots of moms from the Midwest, all of whom had multiple children the same age, and listened to their organizing challenges (children's artwork in duplicate/triplicate/quadruple, anyone?). I even learned a new term, "singleton", the single sibling of multiples. It was fascinating!
Parenting truly is the hardest job on earth. Lightening up on our Mommy-selves a little in our quest to measure up to unattainable standards would go miles towards making the job easier. Someone who has this figured out already is author Lanelle Vasichek, who created "Mommy Milestones" - encouraging Moms to embrace the "wild stages of motherhood where each development (Mommy's, not baby's) is a reason to celebrate." We're talking about our "First Trip To Target After Baby's Birth" here, and "First Real Hot Shower" milestones - REAL LIFE!
Lanelle's book, Celebrate the Mommy Milestones, is laugh out loud funny, and would make the perfect gift for ANY mom as we approach Mother's Day! She has a great line of greeting cards as well, celebrating, tongue in cheek, the Best Days Ever of mommyhood.
Moms of the world - go forth and celebrate your milestones! You've earned them!
